ABOUT THE TEMPLATE

What is Jake’s resume template?

Jake’s resume is a one-page, single-column LaTeX template by Jake Gutierrez, widely shared among software engineering students. Its original sample resume uses the name Jake Ryan. The original repository is MIT-licensed. This independent editor keeps that layout and replaces the code with form fields.

02

Keep control of your document.

Your draft is saved in this browser. Download a JSON backup, the LaTeX source, or an editable Word file.

03

Check what you send.

Review the compiled PDF and the text extracted from it. Know what’s in the file before it reaches an application.

FAQ

Is Jake’s Resume Builder free?+

Yes. Basic editing and PDF, LaTeX, Word, and JSON exports are free and do not require an account. AI suggestions are optional and use credits.

Do I need to know LaTeX?+

No. Fill in the fields and the editor generates LaTeX for you. You can download the source or send it to Overleaf when you want to edit the code.

Is the layout preview the final PDF?+

The Layout tab is a quick approximation. The PDF tab shows the document actually compiled with LaTeX. Use that PDF to check fonts, spacing, and page count.

Basic editing and compilation happen on your device. Optional AI assistance sends only the text you explicitly submit after consent. The compiler and packages are served by this site. If you choose Open in Overleaf, the editor asks before sending your source to Overleaf.

Is Jake’s resume ATS friendly?+

The template uses a straightforward layout and text mapping, but no layout guarantees compatibility with every employer’s ATS. Use Text check to review the words extracted from your generated PDF.

Can I use Word or Google Docs?+

Export a Word document from the editor. To use Google Docs, upload that DOCX to your own Drive. Word and Google Docs may change fonts or page breaks; review the converted file.

Is this the official Jake’s resume?+
